Being a professional pickleball player, dad, husband, internationally acclaimed coach, and Previnex Ambassador comes with a great deal of fun and joy, and also responsibility and physical discipline. Scott Fliegelman holds all these titles—including business owner—and loves every second! Over the last few years, in particular, he’s learned more about the need for making the most out of small pockets of time to prioritize his overall health. After learning about and falling in love with pickleball, Scott and his wife, Kari, started Boulder Pickleball® in Boulder, Colorado in 2019, just a few weeks after he picked up a paddle for the first time! In 2023, they were able to open a physical 19,000 square foot pickleball space. As a pickleball player, Scott is ranked top 10 on the Senior Pro Tour, and holds the silver medal for the 2022 USA Pickleball Nationals in Men’s Senior Pro Doubles. Needless to say, his athleticism that started in childhood has stuck with him! Now that he’s been an athlete for most of his life, he has recently found joy in maximizing his fitness and overall health regimens to be the best version of himself.
Athletics and Nutrition
Scott has been a competitive athlete since he was 12 years old. He’s played division 1 and professional tennis, has been a professional snowboarder, elite triathlete, and is now a professional pickleball player and coach. Fitness is no new feat to him, as an athlete and father in his mid-50s, he has less time to dedicate to training, nutrition, and recovery. While Scott grew up as an athlete, the physical demands of what he’s doing now have evolved. “The demands on my body have changed dramatically as I’ve moved from being a sagittal-plane endurance athlete to being back on court with a racket/paddle in my hand,” he told us. “I’ve had to redevelop muscle groups of explosive lateral movement and resilience, as well as finding a new, optimal weight and body composition that works for my current sport and goals.”
